Naftali Group kicked off Miami Art Week with an exclusive Art Basel preview on Tuesday, December 2, at the JEM Private Residences sales gallery in Miami Worldcenter, presenting the impressive new installation, “JEM in the Sky.” Guests were treated to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as they observed the installation’s craftsmanship up close and captured photos before its lift. As evening turned to night, the installation rose into the skyline, revealing Miami’s newest “Jewel in the Sky” and delivering a highlight of Miami Art Week. The experience previewed what JEM Private Residences aims to bring to the heart of downtown: a new benchmark for refined living grounded in beauty, craftsmanship and cultural presence.
The installation was on display every evening from December 2 to December 7, allowing residents and visitors throughout the week to experience the glowing landmark and its dialogue with the city around it.
Developed by Naftali Group, JEM Private Residences is the jewel of downtown Miami, located within Miami Worldcenter. The residential tower will rise over 700 feet tall and span 67 stories, defining itself as a focal point within the city. Naftali Group has brought together a world-class team of architectural and design talent, including Miami-based Arquitectonica and the internationally renowned Rockwell Group. Spanning from studios to four-bedroom options, JEM Private Residences is the epitome of luxury in South Florida, with residences beginning from the 43rd floor, to ensure all residents experience picturesque city views of downtown Miami.
Located atop the 50th floor, JEM Private Residences offers an expansive suite of amenities, including a 60-foot outdoor pool, indoor Sky Lounge, state-of-the-art fitness center, boxing arena, yoga patio, spa suite with steam, salt, and sauna rooms, along with a co-working space and spirits tasting room for refined social experiences. The crowning jewel of the building will be the JEM Sky Villas with Interiors by FENDI Casa, a collection of luxury penthouses designed with signature FENDI Casa furnishings and designs.
Construction progress for JEM Private Residences is already underway. The project broke ground in April 2024, just under 6 months after bringing the project to market, which is atypical for the Miami real estate market. That momentum is reflected in the market as well, with sales moving at a strong pace, including the recent $8 million sale of Sky Villa 2 with Interiors by FENDI Casa. This move speaks to Naftali Group’s track record as a developer and underscores its confidence in the continued efforts to bring high-quality residential products to South Florida. The project is now rising past its sixth level and remains on track to be completed in Q4 of 2027.
As Naftali Group deepens its footprint across South Florida, the firm continues to expand beyond Miami with Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale. Ideally situated between Las Olas Boulevard and Flagler Village, Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale is the first Viceroy-branded luxury condominium in Fort Lauderdale and is set to redefine the South Florida residential scene with its hospitality-driven approach. 5. JR’s Newly Revealed , Interactive Mural at Superblue During Miami Art Week
A monumental new mural by renowned artist JR has been revealed at Superblue during Miami Art Week. Scaling Superblue’s exterior and visible from afar, The Chronicles of Miami imagines how an entire city can be represented through art. Recognizable faces of mayors and celebrities can be spotted amongst the city’s locals, portrayed side by side and as equals, coming together to mark this moment in time.
To create the work, JR’s mobile studio traveled through well-known and historic Miami neighborhoods in November 2022: including Wynwood, Little Haiti, the Design District, Downtown, Liberty City, and Coconut Grove. Passersby were encouraged to have their portrait taken either individually or as part of a group, choosing how they posed and represented themselves.
Following their portrait, each participant stepped into a recording booth where they could share a thought, story, or experience. Each participant’s voice is connected to their portrait through the free augmented reality app JR:murals.
Also debuting during Miami Art Week is one of JR’s most significant immersive works to date, The Machine Behind the Art: Inside JR’s Printing Press, created for Superblue. The installation invites visitors to walk through a portal-like door embedded into The Chronicles of Miami mural on the building’s façade. Once inside, visitors find themselves inside the mechanical world crucial to JR’s artistic practice. After taking their portraits in one of four individual photo booths, visitors enter the interior of an oversized, whirring printing press where their portraits escape from the rollers and float to the ground

Dates: December 6-8
The Craig Robins Collection in Miami comprises over 1,300 pieces of contemporary art and innovative design, and exhibited within the Dacra headquarters in the Miami Design District. This year’s rehanging of the collection is titled “A Train of Thoughts”, focusing on two core subgroups of the collection’s holdings: figuration and conceptualism. The exhibition highlights a collecting history that has favored a taste for the abject and hyperbolic figurative image, in tandem with the self-reflexive, institutional critique of art based on ideas-- a seemingly incompatible pair that yields unexpected dialogues.
8. Erick & Elliot Jimenez: Reclining Mermaid
Location: Corner of NE 2nd Ave. & 40 St., Miami, FL 33137
‘Reclining Mermaid’ is a site-specific billboard by Elliot & Erick Jiménez, first generation Cuban American twin photo duo located above Patek Philippe in the Miami Design District. The work is a portrait of Yemaya, the deity syncretized with our Lady of Regla in Cuba, and ruler of the seas — her shimmering dress resembling the refraction of the ocean’s surface. The figure is mostly obscured with the exception of her eyes; a customary feature within Elliot & Erick’s artwork, the eyes remaining present in the image serves as posterity to the history of Cuba’s colonialism and blending of Spanish and West African traditions. Reclining Mermaid is part of “Southern Histories”, a series of large-scale works at culturally significant sites to commemorate under-recognized historical narratives connected to Miami’s roots in the American South, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This public work underscores the history of migration from the Caribbean and Latin America to Miami, and the myriad ways in which these cultures transformed the city’s urban fabric over the decades. Produced in collaboration with Spinello Projects and commissioned by Fringe Projects with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
9. The Art of Hip Hop
Location: 299 NW 25th St., Miami, FL 33127
Dates: Permanent Beginning December 5, 2023 | 11AM – 6 PM
Alan Ket & Allison Freidin, Founders of The Museum of Graffiti, proudly present Art of Hip Hop, an immersive exhibition, opening in Wynwood, spotlighting the visual unsung heroes of Hip Hop culture, including photographers, album cover artists, graffiti visionaries, and logo designers. Following successful showings at SXSW and UrbanBreak in Seoul, this showcase lands in Miami on December 5, 2023, offering a unique exploration of Hip Hop's history and Miami's own cultural contributions to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop.
The inaugural exhibition, entitled From the Bronx to the Beach, will showcase rare vintage ephemera from Hip Hop’s first NYC DJ, Kool Herc, to Miami’s own pioneer Uncle Luke. Visitors can expect to see the works of famed Hip Hop photographers Janette Beckman, Mike Miller, Henry Chalfant, Matt Doyle, Lisa Leone, Joe Conzo, and Daniel Hastings, alongside Hip Hop album covers designed by Cey Adams, Eric Haze, Slick, Kaws, and more. The exhibition will also shine a special spotlight on Miami’s own Hip Hop history, capturing it through the lenses of local historian and photographer Derick G and photographer Esdras T. Thelusma.
10. ‘Maze: Journey Through The Algorithmic Self’ by Sebastian Errazuriz
Location: Faena Beach
Dates: December 5th - December 10th | 11:00am - 7:00pm
The Faena Beach has been taken over by a monumental site-specific installation by Chilean artist Sebastian Errazruriz. In contrast to conventional labyrinths, this sand covered MAZE is not designed to get lost or disorient but to find ourselves, to spark conversation and build community. Sand-covered walls blend form an immersive maze into the Miami Beach landscape against the backdrop of turquoise waters. Within this maze where one never gets lost and all paths lead toward one destination, a symbolic gathering point. One inevitably arrives at the center of the maze where Errazuriz guides us to a space designed for congregation, a small plaza where we can gather to contemplate and engage in meaningful conversations.

Taking over the main three temporary galleries of the Museum, the show is the first museum retrospective of Larraz in the USA and will be on view through April 30th, 2022.
On Wednesday, December 1st, the Coral Gables Museum opened the exhibition, ‘Julio Larraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside’ in collaboration with the Julio Larraz Foundation. Taking over the main three temporary galleries of the Museum, the show is the first museum retrospective of Larraz in the United States and will be on view through April 30th, 2022.
On that evening, a special viewing of Larraz’s latest video, Astral Flight (2021) by Ari Larraz, Laura Furcic, and Las Animas Films was held in the Museum’s courtyard.
As part of Art Basel Miami Beach morning schedule of events, the Museum hosted a Brunch and Book Launch of Rizzoli’s retrospective publication ‘Julio Larraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside’ on Saturday, December 4th. With 200 paintings, 50 works on paper, and 10 sculptures ranging from the 1960s to the present, this is the most comprehensive book on the artist to date.
“As it is customary now, the Museum organizes a brunch on the last day of Art Basel Miami Beach as part of the Fair’s morning schedule of events. For us, this collaboration is very important as it attracts other people than our regular public, and doubles the impact of our show,” said Jose Valdes-Fauli, Coral Gables Museum’s Chairman.
“This exhibition has been much-expected. We have received amazing feedback from the public, and the numbers speak by themselves - even when there was a lot to see in the city during Miami Art Week we had over 500 attendees on those two days alone. We are looking forward to many more successful events in the months to come,” said John R. Allen, Coral Gables Museum’s Executive Director.
The Museum has announced a series of Curator Tours led by Chief Curator Yuni Villalonga that will take place during Gallery Nights (the first Fridays of the month,) starting on January 7th, 2022.
“These tours will offer an additional insight on the artist. Beside interesting anecdotes and stories that couldn’t be captured in the exhibition, we will have available facsimile copies of important catalogues in Larraz’s career that the public will be able to check out during the tours,” says curator Yuni Villalonga and adds, “We will soon announce other upcoming related events.”
Artist Julio Larraz (b. Havana, Cuba, 1944) is one of the most influential figures in Latin American art today. Throughout a career of six decades, institutional recognition has gone hand in hand with the admiration and following of colleagues and many younger painters from all over the world that praise his mastery of technique, color and light, and the poetry and subtlety of his work.
The show gathers works that span from Larraz’s early days in New York, as a caricaturist for major newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Vogue, to the drawings, paintings and sculptures realized in New Mexico, Paris and Florence, as well as in Miami, where the artist currently lives and works. Pieces are drawn from private and public collections, as well as from the Larraz family collection and archives, to represent all themes, mediums and key time periods of the artist’s life and oeuvre.
“Among the selection, there are important works in the artist’s life and career, such as his 1969 depictions of spacecraft Apollo 11’s launch from Cape Kennedy, while being one of the few selected artists to witness the moment when humans first landed on the moon; or the painting that represents Larraz in the CINTAS Foundation’s collection after a 1975 Cintas Award,” says curator Yuni Villalonga.
Coral Gables Museum is located at 285 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida.

PROFILEmiami has teamed up with Foodgod, whose new self-titled show Foodgod just went live on Discovery+, to bring you the Top 10 restaurants to score a reservation at during Miami Art Week 2021. 2021 has seen Miami’s restaurant and dining scene dramatically change, giving visitors and locals alike a plethora of new options to choose from with everything from lavish fine-dining to high-energy dinner parties you will not want to miss. Major Food Group entered Miami earlier this year, opening a Miami outpost of the NYC Michelin Star-winning Italian American concept Carbone and later ZZ’s Club and HaSalon, both of which made our list. Miami-based restauranteur David Grutman’s high-energy, celeb-studded concepts Komodo and Papi Steak, both Miami-staples, made the cut as well as A-Lister-staples Cipriani and Mr. Chow. Casual outposts such as the iconic Miami pizza joint Steve’s Pizza and the newly opened Oasis Wynwood offer incredible food without the need to dress-up or race for a reservation between hitting all the art shows and events. One thing is for sure, make sure to make your reservations early as the energy for Miami Art Week has never been higher. Our Insiders Guide will help you plan your week so you don’t miss out on anything.
