New York-based fashion house Carolina Herrera has opened its new flagship boutique located in the heart of the Miami Design District, one of the world's leading destinations for luxury, art, and design. The nearly 3,000-square-foot boutique brings the full world of Carolina Herrera to Miami and celebrates the work of female artists throughout its design. Miami Design District is a neighborhood renowned for bringing together fashion, architecture, and culture through a distinctly creative point of view.

The boutique marks the House's sixth U.S. boutique and a significant milestone as Carolina Herrera celebrates its 45th anniversary. Home to the complete world of Carolina Herrera – including ready-to-wear, eveningwear, handbags, accessories, beauty, fragrance, and eyewear – the flagship debuts with the Fall 2026 runway collection which was inspired by “Women in the Arts,” as well as the newly introduced handbag line, offering an immersive destination where fashion, art, and design come together through the lens of Carolina Herrera.

"This new opening is a significant milestone in the brand's 45th year and an exciting opportunity for the business. For the past several years, we have been working closely with Craig Robins and his team to find the perfect location where our women's ready-to-wear and accessory collections will complement the district's mix with our vibrant, feminine point of view. This new boutique reflects the elegance, color, and sophistication at the heart of the house, while offering an elevated and highly personal experience for our clients. We are thrilled to celebrate this next chapter in Miami, bringing the spirit of Herrera to this extraordinary community," says President, Emilie Rubinfeld.

Conceived as bespoke expression of the world of Carolina Herrera for the Miami Design District, the boutique reflects the optimism, warmth, and joyful beauty long synonymous with the House. Envisioned by Creative Director Wes Gordon and developed in partnership with interior designer Brandi Howe and Jessica Hyland of Hyland Studio, every architectural detail, material, and custom furnishing was designed to remain unmistakably Carolina Herrera while embracing the vibrant spirit of Miami. From the moment guests arrive, the boutique establishes its identity through a dramatic custom façade envisioned by Gordon. Characterized by a grand architectural arch and sculptural limestone finish, the entrance serves as a bold first gesture, setting the tone for an experience where fashion, art, and design exist inseamless dialogue.

Signature House codes unfold throughout the interior in curvilinear forms, soft shades of pink punctuated by vivid red, rich textures, and bold geometric flooring. Created exclusively for the Miami boutique, a custom flooring design combines white limestone with rare blush-pink travertine, whose naturally occurring soft rose tones lend warmth and depth while underscoring the House's enduring affinity for color and craftsmanship. Soft pink Venetian plaster infused with shimmering mica creates a luminous backdrop, while sculptural travertine fixtures, tactile finishes, and elegantly upholstered seating introduce warmth and intimacy, balancing architectural precision with a welcoming sensibility. Together, these elements create an environment that is both refined and inviting.

Custom-designed furnishings further reinforce the dialogue between fashion and interior design. A sculptural serpentine sofa anchors the main salon, combining graceful curves with classic detailing to create a natural gathering place within the boutique. Throughout the space, bespoke seating and fixtures reference the craftsmanship of couture, translating the House's refined aesthetic into three-dimensional form.

The journey through the boutique continues via a sculptural staircase wrapped in natural fiber wall coverings and punctuated with marble display insets that showcase the House's eyewear collection. Upstairs, oak parquet flooring introduces a warmer character, where Carolina Herrera Beauty welcomes guests upon arrival, creating a seamless transition between fashion, fragrance, and the complete world of the House.

"The Carolina Herrera woman is bold, elegant, and joyful. She embraces color, expresses herself with confidence, and never shies away from making an entrance," says Creative Director Wes Gordon. "Her energy is magnetic - much like the spirit of Miami - so it feels entirely natural that we should open our next home here."

As a continuation of Carolina Herrera for Women in the Arts, the House's ongoing platform championing female-identifying talent across the arts, the boutique features a series of original commissions that extend the dialogue between fashion, contemporary art, and design.

Argentine artist Constanza Vallese created a custom floral motif exclusively for Carolina Herrera that appears throughout the boutique as a unifying design element. Expressed through sculptural tables, vases, and decorative fixtures, her work brings an organic femininity to the space while reinforcing the floral language that has long been synonymous with the House.

Suspended above the boutique's central salon, Los Angeles-based artist Liz Oliver designed a dramatic textile installation inspired by organic shell forms. Its sculptural draping pays homage to one of Carolina Herrera's defining design signatures, introducing movement, softness, and a sense of theatricality that transforms the chandelier into a work of art. Created specifically for the proportions of the boutique, the installation serves as the visual centerpiece of the space, seamlessly connecting fashion, craftsmanship, and contemporary design.

Additional handcrafted ceramic planters were commissioned from Brooklyn-based studio Choplet Ceramics, an all-women collective whose work celebrates female craftsmanship and artistry. Their sculptural vessels introduce a natural element throughout the boutique while reinforcing Carolina Herrera's commitment to supporting women across creative disciplines.

“Miami Design District is a place where great brands are encouraged to fully animate their artistic vision. With this new store, Carolina Herrera has blended architecture, design and materiality to immerse customers in their world, whether they are longtime devotees or experiencing it for the first time. The store is a special experience where the complete expression of the House comes to life and legacy and innovation are intertwined,” says Craig Robins, founder and CEO of Dacra, who has led the development of the Miami Design District.

More than a new flagship, the Miami boutique marks a meaningful chapter in Carolina Herrera's continued evolution. Created exclusively for the Miami Design District, it reflects the House's enduring commitment to craftsmanship, artistic collaboration, and joyful elegance while celebrating the creative dialogue between fashion, architecture, and design that defines both Carolina Herrera and its new home.

The Carolina Herrera Miami Design District boutique was realized in partnership with architect of record Dakota Hendon and Red Door Construction.

Miami Design District Reveals Its Next Iconic Office Building 'The Ursa' Designed By Arquitectonica

The Miami Design District has revealed the next iconic building to come to life in the dynamic neighborhood, The Ursa. Located at 30 NE 39th Street, The Ursa will be the first new Class A office building in the neighborhood. The fifteen-story building was designed by Arquitectonica, who was charged with creating world-class architecture that fits within the creative neighborhood.

The Miami Design District has revealed the next iconic building to come to life in the dynamic neighborhood, The Ursa. Located at 30 NE 39th Street, The Ursa will be the first new Class A office building in the neighborhood. The fifteen-story building was designed by Arquitectonica, who was charged with creating world-class architecture that fits within the award-winning creative neighborhood, and generous, modern spaces for companies inventing the future.

With museum-quality exterior public art and interior art and furniture by Daniel Arsham, The Ursa makes an artform out of office space and is in keeping with the ethos and energy of the Miami Design District. At the same time, the state-of-the-art facility offers businesses all the amenities and conveniences expected in the modern workplace -- all within a neighborhood that features the best in shopping, dining, and culture in Miami. Leasing is now underway.

“We are thrilled to be bringing The Ursa to the Miami Design District. Integrating state-of-the-art workspaces into the neighborhood has always been a part of our plan. People want to work in centers of creativity, culture, and commerce; and the District really provides the type of environment where innovation can take flight,” said Craig Robins, Chief Executive Officer and President of Dacra. “Beyond providing office space in the neighborhood, The Ursa as a structure itself adds to the beauty of the Miami Design District. Arquitectonica has created an iconic, elegant, and functional building that highlights both art and natural beauty. We couldn’t be happier with the design and know that businesses will find a special place to call home within The Ursa.”

“The Ursa is an exceptional addition to the Miami Design District. In keeping with our development approach, our emphasis was creating something that truly enhanced the built environment and added to the overall experience of being in this unique community. Bringing a dynamic office building offering to the Miami Design District is an important next step in the neighborhood’s evolution and we are so excited to watch it unfold. We know the District has so much to offer and businesses want to be a part of what we have built here. We cannot wait to welcome them,” said Mathieu Le Bozec, Managing Partner, L Catterton Real Estate.

The Ursa is being developed by Miami Design District Associates, a joint venture between Dacra, L Catterton Real Estate, and Brookfield Properties. The fifteen-story building houses ten floors of approximately 180,000 square feet of office space, with efficient floor plates that embody a center core design. There are also two retail spaces available on the ground floor. The building has abundant outdoor space. Each floor has its own private balcony, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows which provide unobstructed 360-degree views and seamlessly connect the building to the neighborhood. The building also has a rooftop garden deck (indoor/outdoor) accessible to all tenants. Verdant landscaping on each level is by Island Planning Corporation (IPC).

“The building will mark the western gateway to the Miami Design District in a design that combines Miami’s outdoor living with a boutique office building. The District not only has one of the most impressive collections of art and architecture, but also is lined with a stunning native landscape palette throughout. The tree-lined streets of the neighborhood served as the inspiration for bringing the landscape into the building as a series of stepped planters that wrap around the building alongside terraces for the floor-to-ceiling glass office spaces. We are excited to work with Dacra and the team to bring the project to the Design District,” said Raymond Fort, Senior Associate, Arquitectonica.

In keeping with the neighborhood’s commitment to art, culture, and design, The Ursa provides a unique office experience with museum-quality art. Daniel Arsham, famed contemporary artist and founder of architecture and design company Snarkitecture, has created new monumental site-specific artworks to be incorporated into the façade of The Ursa. The works are inspired by sculptural reliefs from Greek and Roman Antiquity, such as sarcophagi, and the walls of the Parthenon enlarged to a monumental scale of up to 36 feet in height. The interior lobby of The Ursa will also feature artworks and furniture specifically designed for the location. Arsham has a long history with the Miami Design District as he attended the Design and Architecture Senior High School (DASH) and was provided his first studio space in the District by Dacra. He has also collaborated with brands that have flagship stores in the District like Tiffany’s and Dior.

“Having an almost life-long personal presence and relationship within the Design District it’s an honor to be invited to collaborate with Dacra on The Ursa. The integration of the surrounding tropical landscape with world-class architecture, contemporary art, and design sums up, to me, what is special about Miami and this neighborhood specifically. I expect this building to become a landmark to the city and an important example of how art and architecture can coexist in exciting new ways,” said Daniel Arsham.

State-of-the-art technology will be integrated throughout the building, with 24-7 onsite security and property management services. The Ursa also benefits from its ideal location and from being a part of the larger Miami Design District ecosystem. In the Miami Design District, tenants have access to over 20 restaurants, 170 retail stores, leading cultural institutions and community programming all with direct accessibility to I-95, and easy connectivity to Miami Beach and surrounding markets.

The Ursa is expected to be completed by fall 2024 with the first tenants moving in by winter 2024.

The Grand Hyatt Selected as Flag for New Miami Beach Convention Center Hotel

The development team behind Miami Beach’s new Convention Center hotel announced today that the 800-room property will be operated by Hyatt under the luxury Grand Hyatt brand, when it opens to guests in 2023. Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will create a new hospitality option for visitors attending events at the adjacent Miami Beach Convention Center, which underwent a $600 million renovation that was completed last year, and will anchor the Convention Center District.

The new hotel will become the second Grand Hyatt property in Florida, joining Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. Grand Hyatt hotels are designed to connect guests with iconic experiences, landmarks and cultural touchstones in captivating destinations around the world. Hallmarks of the brand include bold and vibrant design and architecture, elevated amenities and welcoming service that creates moments of more.

The hotel development is being led by David Martin of Terra and Jackie Soffer of Turnberry, whose plans for the hotel were overwhelmingly approved by Miami Beach voters in 2018. The 17-story hotel will be situated at the intersection of 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, within walking distance of the beachfront, Lincoln Road Mall, New World Symphony, The Bass Museum and The Fillmore Miami Beach.

“For years, Miami Beach has served as a global destination for arts, culture, shopping, dining and entertainment, but the City has lacked a true headquarters hotel for top-tier conventions and meetings,” said Martin and Soffer. “South Florida’s first Grand Hyatt hotel will maximize Miami Beach’s investment in its re-imagined Convention Center while bridging the physical gap that exists between the Convention Center District and surrounding neighborhoods.”

Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will be designed by architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia and his firm, Miami-based Arquitectonica. The development team also includes partner Craig Robins of Dacra, who is the visionary behind the Miami Design District and helped revive Miami Beach’s Art Deco District in the 1990s; Stonehill Taylor, which is designing the hotel’s interior lobby and lounges, ballroom and meeting rooms, hotel rooms and all common areas; EOA, which is designing the pool deck hospitality features of the hotel; and Arquitectonica GEO, which is creating lush pedestrian promenades and landscapes.

Hotel features are expected to include 12 floors of guest rooms offering views of Miami Beach, two floors of meeting spaces and ballrooms that will complement the Convention Center, a resort-style pool deck with panoramic views, and limited retail space that will activate the district at street level. An elevated skybridge will enable event attendees to move freely between the hotel and Convention Center in a climate-controlled, art-filled corridor.

Plans also include landscaped pedestrian promenades on surrounding streets, bike sharing stations, connectivity with public transit routes, dedicated ridesharing pick-up and drop-off zones, and direct access between the Convention Center and Lincoln Road. The project’s resiliency and sustainability measures include storm water management and reuse, flood risk mitigation, and the use of solar power – all of which are designed to ensure operational continuity during weather events.

“The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) joins Terra, Turnberry and The City of Miami Beach in welcoming the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach as the newly named brand for the 800-room headquarter hotel connected to the Miami Beach Convention Center,” said William D. Talbert, III, CDME, President of the GMCVB.  “Grand Hyatt Miami Beach makes it possible to better compete for citywide conventions which fuel jobs in our community and generates business for all of Greater Miami’s hotels and merchants. We look forward to the hotel ground-breaking which once completed will finalize the Miami Beach Convention Center District.”
