Chef Michael White, recognized for six Michelin stars and a James Beard Award, among other prestigious accolades, has opened his first standalone Florida restaurant – MIKA – on Thursday, Dec. 12. Celebrating the bounty of the Mediterranean Riviera, White draws inspiration from the coasts of Italy, France and beyond to unite his signature style of cooking with South Florida’s exceptional seafood and produce in this new dining concept, located in The Plaza Coral Gables.

Envisioned as a staple neighborhood restaurant, guests will experience a fresh iteration of White’s remarkable culinary journey, which is most notably marked by him having earned a coveted two-star Michelin rating as the creator and founding chef New York City’s esteemed Italian establishment Marea. MIKA combines chic sophistication with a relaxed, welcoming ambiance, offering the perfect setting for anything from a casual dinner with friends to a business gathering or a stylish evening out. It is a place where guests are family, invited to enjoy authentic food in a setting that honors the hospitality of home.

Last Wednesday, a slew of celebrities attended a soiree to celebrate MIKA’s grand opening with A-listers in attendance included Derek Jeter and his wife Hannah, NBA player John Wall, DJ Cedric Gervais, of Real Housewives fame Nicole Martin, Mayor Francis Suarez, Mayor Vince Lago, Byredo-Founder Ben Gorham and model Devon Windsor, as well as some of the top names in hospitality, entertainment, and real estate including Dave Grutman, Shareef Malnick, Chris Paciello, Steve Boucher, Colin Cowie, David Martin, and Nitin Motwani.

The menu at MIKA blends delicate crudos, house made pastas, and perfectly grilled proteins, all prepared to showcase the seasonality and quality of each ingredient. Signature dishes, such as langoustine carpaccio, fusilli with octopus and bone marrow, and bistecca alla fiorentina will be featured alongside new creations tailored for Miami’s palate. Complementing the plates are classic cocktails, such as spritz-style libations and craft Italian beers, along with an impressive wine collection housed in a striking 1,700-bottle cellar, featuring Italian, French, and American selections.

Alongside White are owner-partners Alex Pirez and Matt Safchik. Safchik is a seasoned food and beverage operator and former Vice President of Food & Beverage Development for Wynn Resorts. The partnership trio chose Coral Gables because it was an opportunity to serve a truly local audience and contribute to this burgeoning pocket of the local food culture.

“Having both my home and business in Coral Gables, I’ve always dreamed of creating a place the community could call its own,” said Pirez, who was heavily involved in the design. “It’s a privilege to partner with Chef White and bring his legendary coastal-Riviera dishes to this special part of Miami that is near and dear to my heart.”

Handcrafted lighting pieces lend a bespoke quality, each with unique artisanal patterns. For private gatherings and special occasions, a spacious 36-seat private dining room with a dedicated outdoor lounge is available.

Iconic 'Delano Miami Beach' Hotel Reveals First Look At New Renovation Set to Reopen 2025

Ennismore, the fast-growing lifestyle and leisure hospitality company, and Cain International (‘Cain’), have revealed the first look of Delano Miami Beach to mark the countdown to its reopening in late 2025 after a complete renovation. This first look at the revisited Delano Miami Beach comes as the partnership recently celebrated the opening of Delano Dubai.

Ennismore, the fast-growing lifestyle and leisure hospitality company, and Cain International (‘Cain’), have revealed the first look of Delano Miami Beach to mark the countdown to its reopening in late 2025 after a complete renovation. This first look at the revitalized Delano Miami Beach comes as the partnership recently celebrated the opening of Delano Dubai, introducing the brand to a new destination and continuing its global expansion.

Since 1947, the striking Art Deco façade of original Delano Miami Beach has stood as a tangible celebration of the area’s architectural heritage and a homage to the mid-century Miami style. In the 90s, the Collins Avenue landmark underwent a complete renovation, overseen by hotelier Ian Schrager and world-famous designer Philippe Starck, and the result ignited Miami, transporting guests into a world of contemporary design, chic sensibility, and whimsical charm. Widely recognised for reshaping luxury lifestyle hospitality, Delano is known for swapping traditional five-star opulence for a contemporary elegance that is equally captivating – an urban resort with undeniable charm and a loyal clientele.

As before, guests will be swept into the resort through a veil of billowing white curtains that opens out into bright, Delano-white public spaces informed by soft minimalism and the interplay between dark and light. The 171 guestrooms and suites, including poolside Bungalow Suites and spectacular Penthouse Suites, will be guided by a tonal palette and organic fluidity expressed through bespoke lighting and furnishings and will incorporate reimagined Delano brand signatures, including a fresh new take on the classic ‘Apple a Day’ amenity, which will charm guests with a beautifully crafted apple-shaped glass vessel filled with curated treats. Taking advantage of the resort’s prime beachfront location, oversized windows and terraces offer breathtaking views over the dynamic Miami skyline or the shimmering Atlantic Ocean.

Delano Miami Beach will be home to four distinctive restaurant and bar concepts, including a reimagination of the iconic Rose Bar, which once played host to Hollywood royalty and the who’s who of Miami society. The resort will also feature curated retail and exclusive spaces for events and meetings, as well as a state-of-the-art wellness studio and sublime spa offering a wide array of cutting-edge treatments. Delano devotees will be delighted to rediscover the legendary ground-floor pool, which will be joined by a new beachfront amenity deck and a second pool on the fourth floor.

The design of Delano Miami Beach pays homage to its iconic Art Deco roots with careful preservation of key historical features that ensure the hotel's rich heritage is seamlessly integrated with modern elegance. The original vertical paint bands and terrazzo flooring will be reinstated, while the Delano logo and the lobby's hexagonal columns are being restored. The mezzanine bridge will be reimagined to maintain sightlines to the pool and gardens. Delano Miami Beach has been designed by Elastic Architects in collaboration with Ennismore’s in-house design team.

Sharan Pasricha, Founder & Co-CEO of Ennismore, said: “Thirty years ago, Delano ignited the Miami scene and redefined the urban resort experience. From the Rose Bar to the pool - it was a place to be, a playground for the global jet set looking for the ultimate discretion. Today, together with Cain, we continue the iconic Delano story, writing a new chapter for the brand journey, not only with the epic opening of Delano Dubai this month but with the reopening of the brand’s flagship, Miami Beach. We can’t wait for guests, both new and existing, to rediscover Delano Miami Beach.”

“Cain has always believed in the strength of combining distinctive branded offerings with coveted locations across leading gateway cities and hospitality markets,” said Jonathan Goldstein, Chief Executive Officer of Cain International “We are thrilled to be joining forces with Ennismore to breathe new life into what we consider to be one of America's most iconic hotel brands, and share its legacy with a new generation of global travelers.”

In October 2024, the Delano brand was introduced to a new destination and audience with the opening of Delano Dubai. The hotel has 251 guest rooms and suites culminating in the five-bedroom Delano Penthouse, six restaurant and bar concepts, including The Rose Bar and Blue Door restaurant, a reimagining of the famous Delano Pool and 250 meters of private beach. The first Maison Delano - the brand’s metropolitan concept - opened in Paris in April 2023, creating a bustling cocoon that seamlessly translates the Delano pillars and programming into a city social hub.

In 2024, Ennismore and Cain entered into a strategic partnership in which Cain acquired a minority stake in the Delano brand, focusing on the reopening of the flagship and global growth with exciting pipeline projects under discussions across all regions.

Coworking Giant Regus Leases Entire Building in South of Fifth

Regus, a global leader in flexible office spaces, has secured a long-term lease for the entirety of 429 Lenox, a 45,789-square-foot Class A boutique office building in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. This marks Regus’ largest footprint in the area, reflecting the growing demand for coworking spaces in South Florida.

The lease was brokered by Colliers South Florida, with Vice Chair Stephen Rutchik and Vice President Ana Paula representing the landlord, Azora Exan. JLL’s Adam Bernstein represented Regus in the transaction.

“429 Lenox's prime location in the highly sought-after South of Fifth neighborhood made it an exceptional choice for Regus’ expansion,” said Paula. “As the market shifts towards prioritizing lifestyle, prime location, and modern workspaces, the property offers an unmatched blend of unique rooftop access, plug-and-play office solutions, and contemporary amenities. Its proximity to the MacArthur Causeway ensures seamless access in and out of Miami Beach, positioning it as an unparalleled option for today’s forward-thinking businesses.”

Designed by renowned architect Kobi Karp, 429 Lenox features contemporary office spaces tailored for businesses seeking a prestigious address in a dynamic, amenity-rich environment. Key features include a rooftop deck, on-site parking, and prime signage opportunities. Its South of Fifth location provides easy access to luxury residences, upscale dining, and Miami’s iconic beaches.

Arturo Vinueza, Vice President of Investments at Azora Exan, highlighted the significance of the lease: “We are excited to welcome Regus at 429 Lenox, marking a new chapter for our office building in the vibrant South of Fifth neighborhood. This lease highlights the strength of premium office space in Miami, particularly in walkable, amenity-rich areas, aligning with our national office investment thesis. We look forward to welcoming a diverse community of entrepreneurs and professionals who will thrive in this environment.”

Regus plans to operate the location under its SPACES brand, emphasizing flexibility and innovation in workspace solutions. The new office is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 and will join Regus’ other Miami Beach locations, solidifying its presence in the market.

The full-building lease underscores the increasing appeal of coworking spaces in Miami Beach, where office vacancy rates remain low, recorded at just 8.7% in Q3 2024. As companies continue to embrace hybrid work models, demand for adaptable, lifestyle-driven workspaces is surging. Coworking spaces like those offered by Regus cater to businesses seeking environments that enhance productivity and work-life balance.

The broader trend aligns with a post-pandemic shift in workplace priorities, with businesses opting for premium, flexible spaces in prime locations. The 429 Lenox lease reflects this evolution, cementing Miami Beach’s status as a competitive and vibrant office market.
