Co-developers Terra, led by David Martin, and Lion Development Group, led by Michael Simkins, have launched of sales for Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences. Located at 3501 NE 1st Avenue, at the nexus of Miami Design District and Midtown Miami, the building signifies Jean-Georges’ first foray into residential real estate.

Co-developers Terra, led by David Martin, and Lion Development Group, led by Michael Simkins, have launched of sales for Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences. Located at 3501 NE 1st Avenue, at the nexus of Miami Design District and Midtown Miami, the building signifies Jean-Georges Vongerichten’ first foray into residential real estate. Designed by Arquitectonica with interiors by internationally acclaimed design studio Yabu Pushelberg, the 48-story tower will include 329 condominium residences and 27,500 square feet of retail at the ground floor. Douglas Elliman is exclusively handling sales for the project.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Jean-Georges and look forward to introducing a first-of-its-kind lifestyle offering which celebrates the tropical living of South Florida while creating a true cosmopolitan experience at the center of Miami’s cultural hub,” said David Martin, CEO of Terra. “Miami Tropic residents will enjoy exceptional amenities, design and culinary experiences at their fingertips in addition to walkable, convenient access to Miami’s most distinctive and desirable neighborhoods.”

Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences features over 41,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities thoughtfully designed for wellness, gathering and entertainment. The building's ground floor will house Jean-Georges' abc kitchens, a blend of his popular plant-forward restaurant abcV, Latin concept abc cocina, and abc kitchen. Taste is everything at Miami Tropic, and beyond high-quality craftsmanship and finishes, its future residents will have access to everything from beautifully designed gardens to culinary experiences by Jean-Georges, hospitality-driven services and resort-style offerings.

“Miami Tropic represents a longtime dream of mine to open residences that blend my culinary passions with my interest in creating lifestyle spaces,” said Jean-Georges Vongerichten. “We are proud to partner with David Martin on this new venture, whose expertise we value very much, and look forward to collaborating once again with Yabu Pushelberg to bring our first residences to life.”

Designed to provide a curated suite of holistic experiences, Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences’ unique environment is meant to be imaginative, engaging, reinvigorating, and fun. The building’s lobby is immersed with tropical foliage while a private drive-up, porte-cochere offers convenient valet parking. Residents will have access to a podcast recording studio, an indoor-outdoor private dining room, a chef’s kitchen, bar and lounge, as well as outdoor recreation spaces with ping pong tables and a squash court. The wellness offering includes a juice bar, salon, and spa with treatment rooms and cold plunges. In addition to the restaurant by Jean-Georges, a private dining room and bar on the rooftop provides another ideal environment for entertaining, while the resort-style pool with private cabanas, landscaped gardens, outdoor theater, and outdoor kitchen and lounge provide moments for gathering and connection.

Miami Tropic’s architecture by Arquitectonica and interior design by Yabu Pushelberg seamlessly blends the urban tapestry of art and culture to form strong connections between the building and the people who live there. The tower's sustainably-minded architecture (Florida Green Building Design with Silver Certification) features a modern, glass façade with distinct layers and lush landscaping integrated at its base. The interiors, designed by the acclaimed BoF 500 design studio Yabu Pushelberg, offer an overwhelming sense of calm through verdant greenery, textured fabrics and natural materials. Known for their global portfolio of work including the Aman Residences, Tokyo, Edition Hotels in London, Miami, New York, and Jeddah, The Londoner in Leicester Square and La Samaritaine, Paris, among others, George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg previously collaborated with Jean-Georges to design The Fulton by Jean-Georges in New York City.

"It has been a joyful, collaborative journey working with Terra and Jean-Georges," shared Glenn Pushelberg, co-founder of Yabu Pushelberg. "Having lived in Miami, we've witnessed the Design District's dynamic transformation firsthand. We are inspired to contribute to this pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with Miami Tropic where the city's lush, tropical environment blends with its vibrant culture," added George Yabu, co-founder of Yabu Pushelberg.

Catering to the sophistication and spontaneity of Miami buyers, Yabu Pushelberg’s interior design for Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences explores the intersection of joy and refinement, redefining luxury living by embracing exuberance and charm. Yabu Pushelberg placed an emphasis on light, openness, and spatial design, reflecting Miami’s unique ability to cultivate spaces that are both stimulating and tranquil. The interiors integrate shades of green and natural woods and stones, such as diabase, found in the tropics, similar to how Miami’s lush environment effortlessly blends with its art and culture-driven urban landscape. To pay homage to the Design District’s dynamic architecture, Yabu Pushelberg incorporated moments of bold, playful texture throughout Miami Tropic’s interior spaces and integrated artworks of bold color and adventurous compositions, quietly yet powerfully evoking the lush tropics.

In the residences, floor-to-ceiling glass windows flood with natural light and strengthen residents’ connection to the surrounding city. Each home offers one of two distinct color palettes: dawn, reflecting the delicate hues of early morning light, and dusk, evoking tranquility and sophistication through evening-inspired hues. Yabu Pushelberg worked closely with Jean-Georges to ensure the residential kitchens were intentionally crafted to be both functional and compelling with an expansive kitchen island, providing a culinary stage as the room’s focal point. The dawn-palette kitchens feature Crema Marfil marble countertops, orange-brown ceramic tile backsplash, warm champagne metal accents, and Italian wood cabinetry in a beachwood finish. The dusk-palette kitchens boast Green Diabaz stone countertops, dark blue ceramic tile backsplash, rubbed metal accents, and Italian wood cabinetry in a dark finish.

"We're excited to partner with David Martin and Terra on another joint venture and look forward to aligning our shared vision with Jean-Georges, Yabu Pushelberg and Arquitectonica in bringing this building to life. At Lion Development Group we specialize in world-class, community-based development projects such as Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences, blending hospitality, entertainment, technology, culture and the arts," said Michael Simkins, CEO of Lion Development Group.

Prominently situated on the border of Miami’s Design District in proximity to Wynwood and Midtown, Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences will provide future residents convenient, walkable access to luxury retail, dining, art, and culture. These colorful few blocks are accented by the artful storefronts of luxury retailers, eye-catching sculptural and architectural works like Sol Let Witt Sculpture Garden, Fly’s Eye Dome, and Daniel Toole’s Jade Alley, as well as immersive cultural experiences such as the Institute of Contemporary Art and BlackTower Gallery. The Design District is also a short walk to multiple parks and playgrounds, many of them bayfront, including Paraiso Park Paraiso, Martell Park, Roberto Clemente Park, Stearns Park and Albert Pallot Park.

WoodHouse, the visionary development company, has announced the highly-anticipated reopening of The Moore in the Miami Design District, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this iconic landmark. Stepping into its next century, The Moore emerges as a vibrant lifestyle and cultural destination, featuring a private members club, boutique hotel, executive offices, gallery space, and the exciting addition of Elastika, a modern-American restaurant set to open its doors to the public this weekend.

Elastika, nestled on the first floor, introduces a fresh culinary experience under the guidance of acclaimed Executive Chef Joe Anthony. Designed to be more than just a restaurant, Elastika aims to become the heartbeat of the Miami Design District—a place where people gather, dine, and immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of art and culture that defines the area.

Drawing inspiration from Miami’s diverse international community and The Moore’s storied legacy of art and design, Elastika embodies a culinary canvas where carefully curated ingredients and heartfelt cooking techniques converge. The restaurant's namesake pays homage to the iconic Zaha Hadid sculpture, Elastika, suspended majestically throughout the four-story atrium above the dining room—a stunning testament to Miami's boundless creativity.

Brady Wood, Founder & CEO of WoodHouse, shared that “Our vision for Elastika extends beyond the menu. We've transformed the first floor of The Moore into the lobby of the Miami Design District—an inviting destination where people can gather, dine, and enjoy the landmark building and Zaha Hadid's iconic sculpture.”

Elastika’s menu reflects a commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients and close collaboration with local farmers, including Tiny Farm, French Farms, Swank Specialty Produce, and others. Executive Chef Joe Anthony expressed his culinary philosophy, saying, “Our culinary vision is to create vibrant food that is original and thoughtful, yet humble in its roots. By being conscientious about sourcing regenerative and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, we are able to create a distinct style of cuisine while still pushing flavor to the forefront.”

The menu features a range of globally eclectic dishes including the Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho with pickled tomatillos, avocado and fennel pollen focaccia; the Citrus Cured Kingfish Crudo with fermented farro, local kohlrabi and cucumber “aguachile;” a Grass-Fed Bison Tartare, with escabeche aioli, umami crumble and house-made country loaf; Eggplant and Sheep’s Milk Ravioli Serviettes, with spring fricassee, local mushrooms and pine nut froth; Grilled Heritage Pork "Ribeye" with tiny farm's turnips, grilled broccoli rabe and red verjus-cardamom sauce; and the Miso Marinated Beef Tenderloin, with Castle Valley Mill's farro, local herb coulis and carrot "hot sauce."

The design ethos of Elastika seamlessly blends modern sophistication with the building's original architectural elements, creating an ambiance that is both inviting and elegant. Curated by Miami-based art advisor Monica Kalpakian, the restaurant features a collection of contemporary art, including Rob Pruitt’s US (2013) on loan from the late Rosa de la Cruz’s esteemed collection.

Collaborating with hospitality design firm ICRAVE, WoodHouse has transformed the historic atrium into a culinary haven, complete with an expansive bar, plush velvet seating, and a semi-private dining room. The addition of a new skylight floods the space with natural light, while the sidewalk patio offers a charming al fresco dining experience amidst lush greenery.

The history of The Moore, dating back to the 1920s Florida Land Boom, adds another layer of intrigue to Elastika's narrative. Once a furniture showroom and warehouse, The Moore has played a pivotal role in shaping Miami's landscape, hosting numerous high-profile events and exhibitions over the years.

Elastika will be open for dinner from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Lunch service will commence from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday starting May 3, 2024. For reservations and to learn more visit www.elastikamiami.com.

Debuting in the charming Buena Vista neighborhood, La Màrtola is bringing a taste of culinary treasures from the Italian, French, and Spanish Rivieras for a unique, alfresco dining experience. The concept was created by esteemed partners - hospitality impresario Paolo Domeneghetti and Martino de Rosa, founder of the internationally acclaimed La Filiale in Italy, made famous by Netflix’s Chef’s Table. Hailing from New York City and Italy, respectively, both partners have come together to bring the European philosophy of generous, warm hospitality to Buena Vista, starring pizza made with 36-hour Italian dough, fresh local fish, farm-raised meats, and a world-class gelato program curated by Italian master gelataio, Simone Bonini.

Meals are filled with aromas from the Stefano Ferrara wood-fired pizza oven and custom-made wood grill by Grillworks with a gently illuminated open-air setting reminiscent of the coast of Saint Tropez, Marbella, or Portofino. The intimate bar at La Màrtola showcases a carefully selected collection of spirits, classic cocktails, and a wine list brimming with personality.

“La Màrtola is the culmination of our passion for dining that is casually elegant, creatively simple, and uniquely familiar. We highlight the simplicity and quality of classics, blending tradition and innovation to create a space that inspires the art of savoring life,” says owner Paolo Domeneghetti.

Menu highlights include Farm-Fresh Oysters; Orata Crudo with Ciliegini tomatoes & Taggiasca olives; Bluefin Akami Tuna Tartare with Mediterranean gin, grapefruit & orange; and traditional plates like Lobster Salad, Paleta Ibérica con Chips, grilled Turbot and the Bistecca Fiorentina. Presented family-style, these dishes capture the aura of this oasis, alongside house specialties like Olive Ascolane, Fried Cremini, and Farm-Fresh Heirloom Tomatoes.

La Filiale is at the helm of La Màrtola’s pizza program, presenting an array of Neapolitan-style pizzas, including our favorite - the Carbonara. Each pizza is a testament to the art of pizza making, featuring ingredients freshly imported from Naples and a secret, naturally fermented 'impasto' prepared in-house daily.

The wine list features select categories: Champagne, Burgundy, Barolo, Rosé, and a "pocket list" showcasing special bottlings from winemaker "Friends of La Màrtola”. Cocktails include a variety of signature and classic drinks, as well as aromatic and herbal spritzes, using local and natural ingredients. La Màrtola is located at 4702 Northeast 2nd Avenue and will be open daily from lunch to dinner - 12 PM to 10:30 PM - with a seasonal menu alongside fresh and ever-changing daily specials.
